Destination wedding in Seville

Couples fly to Seville for its haciendas and its old-town palaces. This guide is what we have learned filming weddings here: where, when, for how many days, and what the photographs and the film cost.

Why Seville

Seville has two kinds of wedding. Out in the countryside there are haciendas with whitewashed courtyards and room for a long dinner outdoors; in the old town, palaces and churches a short walk from the hotels. Many couples marry in a chapel or an ermita and then drive to a hacienda for the celebration, which is how both of the stories below went.

Seville airport (SVQ) has direct flights from many European cities, and the city has hotels for every kind of guest.

When to come

June, July, September and October are the busiest months. July and August are hot: inland Seville averages more than 35 °C in the afternoon, so summer ceremonies are set for the end of the day and dinner is served once the heat has gone.

The sun decides the timetable more than anything else. In June it sets after half past nine; in October, before eight. We keep the portraits for the last hour of light.

The venues we have filmed

Hacienda La Pintada, in Utrera: Lucía and Juan held their celebration there after a ceremony at the Ermita de la Virgen de Valme, in Dos Hermanas.

Hacienda Al-Baraka, in Dos Hermanas: Alicia and Edu celebrated there after marrying at the Ermita de Nuestra Señora de Belén, in Pilas.

El Ranchito, in El Rocío (Huelva): Patri and Juanma celebrated there after a ceremony at the Convento de Santa Clara, in Moguer.

Convento de la Luz, in Lucena del Puerto (Huelva): Juan and May married there, with a civil ceremony at the church door and the dinner in the nave.

We only write about places where we have filmed a wedding ourselves, so this list grows one story at a time.

Getting married near El Rocío

Some couples who fly into Seville want to marry in El Rocío, the village on the edge of Doñana, in the province of Huelva. From Seville airport it is 93 km, about an hour and twenty by car, and the wedding film includes travel within Seville, Huelva and Cádiz.

We have filmed at El Ranchito, an estate in Almonte a few kilometres from the village, with a botanical garden, a natural lake and a jetty for ceremonies. Patri and Juanma’s story shows a whole day there, from the ceremony at the Convento de Santa Clara in Moguer to the party in the garden, and the pre-wedding they had in Marrakech.

More than one day

A wedding with guests flying in rarely fits into a single day. There is usually a welcome drink or dinner the evening before and a slow morning after. If the dates work for us, we film those as well and they become part of the same film.

What the photographs and the film cost

The wedding film starts at €3,480 + VAT: the whole day, two videographers and your guests in it. The photographs by Cupido debe morir are added in the budget, and travel within Seville, Huelva and Cádiz is included.

If it is just the two of you, an elopement film starts at €1,800 + VAT for four hours.

The venue, the catering and the planner are priced by each of them: this is only our part of the wedding.

The paperwork

A civil marriage in Spain for two people who do not live here needs documents from your own country and a good deal of patience, so most couples who come from abroad sign at home and hold a symbolic ceremony in Seville. For the film it makes no difference: there is still an aisle, vows and rings. Your consulate can tell you what applies in your case.

With a planner or without one

Many destination weddings are organised by a planner, and we work comfortably with them: we take their timings and fit around the venue and the rest of the suppliers. If you are planning it yourselves, we will tell you how a wedding day usually runs in Seville and where the film needs time.

We travel, too

Seville is where we film most, but we have also filmed in Portugal, France, Italy, Germany, Saudi Arabia and Morocco, and a proposal in Rome.

Questions

Can we get married in Seville if we don’t live in Spain?

Yes. Most couples from abroad hold a symbolic ceremony here and sign the legal part at home, because the civil paperwork for non-residents is slow and depends on documents from your own country.

What is the best month for a wedding in Seville?

For mild weather, June, September or October. July and August work too, but the day starts late because of the heat.

How much does a destination wedding film in Seville cost?

From €3,480 + VAT for the whole day with two videographers. The photographs are added in the budget, and VAT is not included in any price on this site.

Can you film the welcome party or the day after?

If the date allows it, yes. Tell us how the whole weekend is planned and we will say what we can join.

Do you speak English?

We plan and film in English. Our listening is better than our speaking, but on the day nobody notices: we are the quiet ones with the cameras.

Can you film a wedding in El Rocío?

Yes. El Rocío is in the province of Huelva, 93 km (about an hour and twenty) from Seville airport, and travel within Huelva is included in the wedding film. We have filmed a full wedding at El Ranchito, an estate next to the village, and its story is on the site.

Do you travel outside Seville?

Yes. Travel within Seville, Huelva and Cádiz is included in the wedding film; anywhere further, in Spain or abroad, is quoted for each wedding.
